Join Stephanie for an exciting 4-week class that covers the fundamentals of glass fusing.
You will learn how to cut glass, designing for slumping, and how to write kiln schedules.
In addition, you will experiment with reactive glass, painting and stringers. At the end of 4 weeks, you will complete 4 projects including small dishes, large bowl, ornaments, and coasters. No prior experience is required.

Tuesdays 3/4-3/25 from 6-8 pm

- One: Overview of class objectives & timeline in clay & glasswork. Explore design ideas & outcomes with examples. Create clay molds (6x6).
- Day Two: Discuss fired molds & slumped glass. Discuss glass design. Create 4 pieces (6x6); replace molds if needed.
- Day Three: Discuss slumped pieces. Painting on glass, frit, & glass sheet techniques. Create glass pieces or molds.
- Day Four: Review & troubleshoot molds, glass designs, & firing schedules. Create final pieces.

Wednesdays 3/5-3/26 from 6-8 pm

- Day 1: Blind contour drawings of a still life. Focus on blending, light to dark painting, & color placement.
- Day 2: Contrast & layering. Use a limited palette, complementary colors, & sectioned image to emphasize layering & tone.
- Day 3: New techniques: wax resist, wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, & salt resist. Apply lessons loosely & introduce the final project.
- Day 4: Creative application. Students choose their subject, with guidance. A still life will be set up for inspiration.
